Indianapolis is poised for growth and leadership in the midwest. While a world class city, we have significant room for growth, and citizens who can get us there. I am running for city-council in District 9 as an Independent to represent Progressives, and the interests of citizens, not parties, religion, or big business. Based on the current challenges we face as a city, I am focusing my campaign on four issues: community development, civil rights, education and redistricting.

Redistricting

Redistricting should preserve the integrity of neighborhoods and political diversity, not Party security, and should be designed by an independent commission followed by community approval.

Civil Rights

The Indiana General Assembly has been devolving the rights of women, racial minorities, gays/lesbians, workers, and elderly voters. The Indianapolis City-Council has voices protecting the rights of each of these groups, but more voices are needed to prioritize equal protection unde the law for all citizens.

Education

Education is the way out of poverty, street crime, blighted communities, and unemployment. Early childhood education, freely and fairly accessible to all children, is critical to prepare them for success in school and for life.

Community Development

Infrastructure provides the foundation for community life and business development, and is built by common investment for the public good. Local community development is critical for the the future growth of Indianapolis, and as a city-councilor, I want to empower neighborhoods to organize and lobby for what they need to thrive.
