The problem with legalizing gay marriage is that it takes away from those ( heterosexuals )the benefits they have worked so hard in achieving. What the heteros don't realize and I hear very little talk about the subject is that Marriage in itself is a strictly religous ceremony. The problem with marriage as a legal institution is in itself corrupt. We, in America, have the separation of Church & State. Therefore, there should be no law legalizing or illegalizing marriage. It crosses the rules of separation of church & state. It has for centuries and it is wrong. The government has no business issuing marriage licenses, making laws for or against marriage. If we adhered to our constitution as amended, this wouldn't even be an issue. We should be attacking the marriage crossing the lines of church & state first. Then gay marriages wouldn't need legalization.

Just my thoughts.
